ABOUT AURORA

The main focus of Aurora Jewelry and Design is custom handmade unique artisan jewelry incorporating sterling silver and gemstones for beautiful works of wearable art to last a lifetime. The obsession with all things beautiful, also offered is a selection of manufactured pieces including chains, earrings and findings along with a collection of previously loved costume, vintage and fine estate jewelry.

Unable to choose a particular area of jewelry, you will see a wide variety of styles from fancy to fun, classic to contemporary. I love the craftsmanship and style of the artisans of the past and the latest technology of today. As my studio evolves you will see new styles and different processes emerge.

With all the media choices available, the materials are personally handpicked. Precious and semi precious faceted gemstones and beads come in many grades and I tend to pick the best color and clarity, some are just irresistible and the pieces are priced accordingly. Silver metals used including wire, findings, beads and chain are sterling silver or better. I also use beading wire and various cording depending on the design. Pearls are cultured unless otherwise specified.

After 15 year’s of experience in the automotive industry, including manufacturing, illustration, engine design and a training instructor, the industry was changing. Deciding to utilize my hobby’s to pursue a more personal direction designing custom jewelry, the inception of Aurora Jewelry and Design.com offers my collections and custom designs to everyone.

A little history:

It all started with dad’s purple socks.

For as long as I can remember our family vacations always included searching for treasures, whether strolling the beaches or hiking in the woods we were always hunting for shells, fossils and rocks. We each had one of his purple socks to carry our finds. Mom would judge the success of our mission by how far the socks stretched.

Throughout my childhood, creativity was always encouraged.

My father was an engineer for one of the big three and built our home himself. My mother made custom draperies and slipcovers and ensured the success of all our adventures. I was able to experiment in many mediums due to their knowledge and experience. I thank them. Their influence gave me confidence to pursue a creative direction in my education, including computer aided drafting, advertising and design, photography, fine arts and jewelry.

Purchasing my first home at 20, it was the beginning of a life long journey of designing, remodeling and landscaping homes. Following in my fathers footsteps, I have the ability to visualize and sketch an idea. My mechanical aptitude and manufacturing processes knowledge allows for multiple concepts before deciding on a final design direction.

Thank you for your interest, I will be adding to the about page as time permits.
